The 1972 Silver Dollar was minted to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States as well as the moon landing.
The Chain is 24" with a spring clasp on this necklace. The Eisenhower dollar is gold-plated and set in a framed pendant. The pendant exposes the entire front and back of the coin. Very nice condition.
The Eisenhower dollar of 1972 was struck with the initials "FG" for Frank Gasparro, the tenth Chief Engraver of the US Mint. Gasparro created the designs for the front and back of the coin. In total, the US Mint produced over 170 million of these coins; only two million of them were composed of silver, with the remainder made of copper nickel. Although these copper-nickel specimens do not contain silver, some are valuable due to their numismatic value.
A 1972-D Eisenhower Ike Dollar, uncirculated Grade MS67, Copper-Nickel Clad offered online for just under $2,000.
