A remarkable early American vintage cutlery set from Englishtown Crafts of New York, dating to the company's earliest years.
This unusual “Chef's Tier” knife set is documented in an archival WorthPoint listing as having been shipped on November 4, 1948, placing it at the beginning of Englishtown Crafts' history. Englishtown Crafts, Inc. was established in 1947 and later evolved into the company known as Townecraft.
The collection consists of nine stainless-steel kitchen/carving pieces, including knives and sharpening/carving accessories, beautifully arranged in two fitted hardwood presentation tiers.
The rich wood cases give the set considerably more presence than ordinary vintage flatware and make it an attractive display piece for a collector, chef, vintage kitchen enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates beautifully designed American mid-century objects.
Condition: Vintage condition. Please examine photographs carefully for the condition of the wood, metal surfaces, and individual pieces. Minor age-related marks, surface wear, or oxidation may be present, consistent with an approximately 78-year-old set.
A wonderful example of early American stainless-steel craftsmanship and postwar kitchen design.
