Gorgeous Limoges Antique biscuit jar, hand painted with beautiful lavender rose flowers against a white background cascading down the sides of the piece with accents of gold and greenery. Gold scalloped rim, lid with gold curving squared flower finial. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage, losses, or wear to the gold, it is pristine and was very well taken care of. It stands 7.75" tall x 6" and bears rare Limoges import marks, used from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. What a superb piece of porcelain to add to your Limoges collection.
François Frédéric Lanternier established a luxury porcelain workshop in 1857. Partnering with Breuil he took over the Chabrol factory and started producing porcelain, which was artistically hand decorated in his studio.
In 1890 the company was joined by Frederic's son, Alfred Lanternier. Alfred gained experience working in England as a Wedgewood representative. The company changed name to A. Lanternier & Co. They bought another porcelain factory in Limoges.
