Thomas A. Nicholas was born in Middletown, CT in 1934. He was fortunate to study with Ernst Lohrman and illustrator Harold Fisk while attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City from 1953 to 1956 on a scholarship. In 1961, he was granted a prestigious opportunity to study in Europe for two years from the Greenshields Memorial Foundation. With almost 50 years of professional experience in painting, Tom has established himself as one of the most distinguished landscape painters in the country. Over the course of his career, he has had the opportunity to paint in some of the most breathtaking locations around the world, including the coast of Maine. His paintings are renowned for their exquisite composition, meticulous detail, and enchanting emotion. He has been honored with a Special Tribute from the Hudson Valley Art Association in New York and has been featured in a slide presentation showcasing his watercolor painting career from 1953 to 2008 at the American Watercolor Society.
Since 1960, Tom has painted throughout Europe and the United States. Listings include: Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in the East, The Old Royal Watercolour Society Annual Volume, 1971, London, England, Strathmore's Who's Who.
